WELFARE SCHEMES, PERTAINING TO VETERANS, WIDOWS AND DISABLED SOLDIIERS AND THEIR WARDS BY KARNATAKA STATE GOVERNMENT
1. General.- One time of Cash grants to Gallantry/ Non Gallantry award winners revised wef 15 Dec 2021. Details as mentioned below :-
- 10% reservation for Ex-Servicemen is state Govt employment in each of the Groups A, B, C & D and relaxation of age limit to the extent of military service + 3 years.
- 50% Concession in Property Tax 10% (Bengaluru Urban).
- Educational benefits to Children of Ex-Servicemen, who are domicile of Karnataka. Vacancies earmarked for BE, MBBS, Ayurved, Homeopathy, Unani and Naturopathy.
- 10% reservation for Ex-Servicemen in allotment of residential sites by Urban Development Authorities.
- 1% reservation for Ex-Servicemen in allotment of ‘ASHRAYA’ houses irrespective of income.
- Benefits of pay fixation/ protection, counting of military service, where Ex-Servicemen are employed in the State Civil Service subject to the provisions of Karnataka Civil Services Rules and Central Government Rules.
- Sainik Rest House facilities at Bengaluru, Belagavi, Vijaypura, Dharwad, Karwar, Madikeri, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Bagalkot and Athani.
- Free Military Boys Hostels for children of Ex-Servicemen at Belagavi, Athani, Karwar, Vijaypura and Mysuru.
- Free Military Girls Hostel at Dharwad.
- Monitoring of 10% State Govt Reservation – all Departments have been instructed to upload their job Notification in www.karnatak.gov.in. Icon named ‘recruitment’ is provided on the menu bar.
- As per Govt of Karnataka Revenue Act 1969, application for grant of Govt waste land to Defence services personal and ex-servicemen/ dependent are received of this department for recommendation and onward submission to District Collector (revenue department) office for consideration.
- The allotment is made by the concerned District Administration.
- Annual Income limit for allotment of land is Rs 8,00,000/-.
2. BENEFITS EXTENDED TO WIDOWS OF ESM AND EX-SERVICEMEN.
Financial Assistance :-
(i) Honorarium @ Rs 6,000/- pm for WW-II participant Ex-servicemen/ widows who are not in receipt of any other pension/ honorarium.(ii) Annual Relief Grant of Rs 4,000/- to non-pensioner Ex-servicemen and widows in penury.
(iii) Death Relief Grant of Rs 4,000/- to the Next of Kin of deceased Ex-Servicemen.
(iv) Marriage Grant to one daughter is Rs 50,000/- (for max two daughters only).
(v) Financial assistance for Spectacles Rs 600/-, Hearing Aids Rs 3,000/-, Artificial Denture Rs 1,000/-, Contact Lens Rs 3,000/-, Hernia Belt Rs 1,500/- and Spondylitis Collar Rs 1,500/- etc to ESM & NOK subject to Annual Income not exceeding Rs 1,50,000/-.
(vi) Spot financial assistance to Ex-servicemen and their dependents who are in financial distress.
(vii) Financial assistance for medical treatment to Non Pensioners for serious diseases (limited to Rs 10,000/-).
(viii) Financial assistance of Rs 1,00,000/-pa to inmates of Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre at Kirkee.
(ix) Monthly Honorarium of Rs 3,000/- to the Widows of Soldiers who died in War before 1978.

3. BENEFITS EXTENDED TO WAR WIDOWS/ BATTLE WOUNDED. Benefits extended to the War Widows/ Dependents or battle wounded with more than 50% disability during War/ War like operations are as follows :-
- Ex-Gratia grant of Rs 5,00,000/- to Window/ Dependents of Soldiers killed in action and Battle Casualty with more than 50% disability. Rs 1,00,000/- to the battle casualty with below 50% disability. Ex-Gratia of Rs 25 lakhs is given to the War Widows from Chief Minister Relief Fund since Feb 2016.
- 2 Acres of Wet Land or 4 Acres of Rain Fed or 8 Acres of Dry land is given. If land is not available for allotment, a cash grant of Rs 10,00,000/- is admissible.
- Cash grant for construction of house for Officers/ JCOs Rs 6,00,000/- and Other Ranks Rs 4,50,000/-.
- Free site measuring 40 x 60 ft for Offrs & JCOs and 30 x 40 ft for Other Ranks. Cash grant in lieu of site to the War Widows/ dependents are as under :-
